All around us high street stores, and many local shops too are closing yet here we are building up our own little businesses, and succeeding in the middle of an economic crisis. I think that sometimes we need to sit back and look at what we have achieved, yes it may be hard but we are succeeding where many are failing. If we can start up and build a business in this tough economic environment then we really should be proud of ourselves.
There are businesses that we have seen around us for decades going under but we are all clinging on. Many of us are working around children, other jobs and a variety of other distractions but I choose to think that the hard work will all pay off in the end. If we can suceed now in this hostile business environment, think where we will be in 5, or maybe 10 years time. I wanted to use this blog post just to say well done to each and every one of you, give yourselves a pat on the back and be proud of what you have achieved. Onwards and upwards!
Maybe the future lies in online only stores rather than bricks and mortar. I have just restarted my own shop after a couple of months of shut down but I wouldn't be able to do it if I had rent etc to pay.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a good point Kerry, the online side of things seems to be thriving, and people tend to buy a lot more online than in shops nowadays, I know I certainly do.
ReplyDeleteThey say that the best time to start a business is during a recession.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pat on the back. It is hard but worth it. On-line is definitely the way forward. I think there are so many advantages to it as well. Our lives have changed so much, I shop for fabric, restock my supplies and sort out my web updates in the evening after the kids are in bed, if I had to venture out to do all of this I doubt I would have the time and inclination to sort this out. Saying that though my treat to myself is still to go out and shop at a bricks and mortar shop :) so maybe there will always be both about.
